Counselling Support for Life Transitions, Identity Change, and Personal Growth
Brendan English is a registered counsellor at As You Are Counselling, supporting individuals navigating life transitions, identity changes, grief, and periods of uncertainty or change. Brendan provides counselling in person in Warwick, Perth’s northern suburbs, and online across Australia, offering a calm and supportive space where people can reflect on their experiences and explore what comes next.
Brendan is particularly passionate about supporting people through life transitions because he has walked through many seasons of change himself — leaving the army, rediscovering his sense of identity, letting go of unhealthy relationships, building stronger ones, grieving loved ones, becoming a father, navigating career shifts, and adjusting to the realities of growing older.
Through these experiences, Brendan understands how deeply unsettling life transitions can feel. Moments of change can bring uncertainty, fear, grief, or a sense of losing direction, even when the change itself may be positive.
These lived experiences shape the way Brendan works with clients. He recognises that everyone moves through periods of transition — starting a new career, becoming a parent, navigating separation, moving into retirement, or simply realising that life no longer feels aligned with who they are becoming.
Brendan believes these moments of change, while often difficult, can also become powerful opportunities for reflection, growth, and renewed direction. Every transition involves letting go of something familiar, and that process of letting go often brings grief. Brendan believes this grief deserves compassion, understanding, and space to be acknowledged.
His counselling style is grounded, open, and deeply human. Brendan meets clients where they are, without judgement, walking alongside them as they explore their experiences and reconnect with their own strengths. His goal is to help people move through life’s changes with greater clarity, confidence, and self-awareness, knowing they don’t have to navigate these seasons alone.
